This hostel is good. The kitchen is well equipped, there are free toiletries (woah! Yeah!), and though the street is distant from the train, the bus runs right in front of the hostel, and the neighborhood has lots to do late at night- bars, pizza, record shops. Beds have curtains and lights so you won't be disturbed by other people quietly reading with the lights on. Single occupancy bathrooms in the hallway, which is also nice for privacy. You must have an ID from a different country or area other than DC in order to stay, however.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was very clean, and the common area was nice, with free coffee and tea. Small room, but it was just right for me, and affordable for what you get. They were very helpful when my trip originally fell on the January 25 snowstorm and I had to postpone it (I do recommend paying for the flex cancel, just in case.) The location is great and there's a lot to do in this part of town or a short bus ride away.

When I entered the hotel I was very surprised by the warm welcome Ms. Dorine gave me, in French. My first language is French so when I found out that she spoke it I was relieved. English is a harder language for me to understand so, to have someone that I could talk to was extremely helpful. She helped me get settled into my room and was very friendly the entire time. The staff were also incredibly kind and my experience was very nice because of her. My only regret was that I couldn't thank her before I left a few days later. Would definitely recommend her and the establishment.

My experience at Highroad Hotel was unbeatable. I absolutely loved every corner of this place. They offer coffee, tea, water, and ice 24 hours a day, and you can also leave your luggage in lockers before check-in and after check-out, which is perfect if you have flights at inconvenient times. The common areas are very comfortable and offer everything you might need to cook or eat, plus cozy couches to relax, books, and board games. The staff is incredibly kind and always ready to help with anything you might need. The rooms are clean and well equipped. I stayed in a shared room with six women, and the beds were very comfortable. Each bed has its own curtain for privacy, as well as a personal charger and reading light. There is also plenty of storage space in the room, including a large locker for each guest that easily fits a full-size suitcase. The hotel also provides many complimentary items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body lotion, eye masks, earplugs, and more. The location is great as well. It’s very close to bus stops that take you to the National Mall in about 20 minutes, and it’s located on a street full of bars and restaurants, which makes the area feel very lively and active. Overall, an amazing stay that I would absolutely recommend.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and although I had a private room, it really opened me up to hostels in general. The free coffee, tea, water, pads, tampons, towels, etc available 24/7 was amazing. And Dorine at the front desk was absolutely amazing! The customer service made my experience 10/10. Thank you to all of the staff who made the stay so excellent.
