Stayed at Villa Song for a short getaway and honestly really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere here. The room was spacious, clean, and had a cozy boutique feeling instead of the usual “standard hotel” vibe. Loved waking up to the river view and the quiet surroundings. The pool area was one of my favorite spots, very relaxing, lots of greenery, and perfect for escaping the busy city for a while. Breakfast was simple but good quality, especially the fresh pastries and Vietnamese options. Staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help without feeling overly formal. What I liked most is that the hotel feels calm and personal, unlike larger chain hotels. Definitely a nice hidden gem in Saigon for anyone looking for a more relaxing stay.

A lovely getaway in the Thao Dien district, a comfortable walk away from loads of cafes, restaurants and shops. Access to District 1 is by the hotel’s own boat - the ride an experience in itself! - or via the Grab ride hailing app which is very affordable. Our suite was beautifully appointed, facing the river. We were met the next morning by a glorious sunrise. There is a beauty about the property - from the little touches all over the lovingly restored property to the sincere smiles of the caring and attentive staff led by hotel manager Tien. We totally enjoyed our stay and couldn’t recommend Villa Song more strongly.

The pool is absolutely beautiful and definitely the highlight of the place. The rooms were nice and clean, though the price feels a bit on the steep side for what’s offered. Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn’t quite the same as before the menu has changed and the quality felt a bit lower than what I’ve experienced here in the past. Overall, lovely mainly because of the pool, but there’s room for improvement, especially considering the price point.

At the end of January, my wife and I were in Ho Chi Minh City for a few days. We had been tipped off about Villa Song, a so-called boutique hotel. We usually stay in chain hotels, because I fool myself into thinking that my status with the chains will make us have a better experience. We have tried boutique hotels before and been very satisfied, so we should really do it more often. And that will be the case after this experience. We were very well received when we arrived at 10pm, everything was ready and no problems. That was to be the tone of the stay. The service was incomparable, no question too big, none too small. Our room met our expectations, and then some. Large, airy and with an open solution towards the Song River from our own balcony, it was absolutely clear that the evenings would be spent on the balcony. It should be mentioned that the balcony is exposed to the restaurant below and if you are sensitive to sound, it could be annoying, for us it was not a problem. Breakfast is served a'la carte and all meals can be served right on the riverbank. Great experience and delicious food. Never a problem with space. The common area matches the number of rooms just fine. The hotel has a saltwater pool, which we think is absolutely excellent, chlorine is not good for your skin. We had a few small misunderstandings based on language, it's not easy when both parties communicate in a foreign language. But everything was always resolved with a smile and a good laugh. The hotel is located a bit out of the center, which the hotel normally addresses with a boat that shuttles free of charge to/from the center. Unfortunately, this was not in operation during the time we were there. The hotel solved this by providing us with transportation to the nearest Waterbus stop. All in all, we had a fantastic few days and highly recommend the hotel.

Stayed here for two night recently and found it quiet, calming, elegant and with a lovely pool. However anything that should make a stay in this setting come to life - the people - was odd. The staff seemed indifferent, nervous, somewhat unhappy and ill at ease. The vibe was clearly off. I suspect that the front house leadership is not really working and not training and engaging their teams well. They seemed quiet and nervous to speak. . I also found the breakfast of one item and one drink maximum quite a pinched approach (and unnecessary for the food as portions are generous; the drinks policy is seemly designed to annoy guests) and a weird way to save money, for guests who clearly have money. I suspect with broken things not being replaced (table mats, glass table tops etc) and low cost choices (paper napkins not linen) the hotel is losing money, but all evidence of a lack of love and care, or evidence that the management doesn’t know what a luxury hotel should be like. It’s the detail. There are few places like this to stay in HCMC but as a whole package, and an experience for human beings with hearts, it’s not as enjoyable here as places a third of the price.
